GEARS
Covers the beginning basics of industrial gears, gearing terminology
and technology.
This book will save you the tedious hours you normally need to spend with
a newcomer explaining the basics - like "What does DP mean?",
or "What's a pitch circle?"
|
GEARS
comes in three configurations:
The text is identical in all three configurations; only the way of
furnishing answers to the study questions is different.
1. Self Study Version
In this configuration a student can work on his own, with little
supervision. The study questions or problems in each section
have answers right in the text, immediately following the questions.
A student can do the problems and then easily check her work.
2. Classroom Student Version
This version is for use in a classroom, where a teacher will want to
use the study questions for homework or quizzes. In this configuration
there are no study answers in the text.
3. Classroom Teacher Version
This version is for a teacher to use in a classroom. In this configuration
the study answers are not in the text, but are supplied
in a separate booklet.

The book should be useful to drafters, machinists and machine operators,
office workers, sales persons, customer service people, buyers.
It includes information on engineering representations - drawings - of gears,
definitions of face, hub, keyway, pinion and more. It shows center distance,
pitch circle and diameter, splines, backlash. There are sections on spur and
helical gears, worm gearing, bevel gears, and an explanation of torque.

INVOLUTE GEARS
Covers the properties and uses of involute curves in spur and helical
gear teeth.
This new edition has a section showing how to draw gear
teeth with proper looking involute curves and fillets. It has
examples and study questions in both American (inches and DP)
and metric (millimeters and module) units.

The book can be used in apprentice programs, and by students training
for the gear industry. It can be used as a text in courses teaching
mechanical power transmission technology.
The book shows how to estimate and exactly calculate the thickness
of involute gear teeth at any diameter, the amount of backlash
created for a given change in center distance, measurement over
pins or balls, span measurements, and change in tooth thickness
and center distance for profile modified teeth.

GEAR MEASUREMENTS CD
A Java computer program that will calculate pin and span measurements
for spur and helical teeth.
|
GEAR MEASUREMENTS
works with either diametral pitch or module. Any size pins can be used.
A standard backlash will be calculated, or you can enter your own backlash allowance.
Addendum modified teeth (long or short addendum) can be calculated.
It can be run directly from the CD, or installed on your hard drive.
If you enter number of teeth, pitch, pressure angle, optional helix angle,
X dimension and backlash, the program will calculate pin and span measurements.
Or you can work it backward by entering a pin or span measurement, and it will
attempt to calculate pitch, helix angle, backlash allowance, or whatever field
you leave blank.
